Description
90.000 AC - A grande era do gelo está se aproximando rapidamente. Outra luta titânica pela supremacia global involuntariamente começou entre as espécies diferentes de animais. Dominant Species é um jogo que recria abstratamente uma pequena parte da história antiga: a invasão pesada de uma idade do gelo e o que isso implica para os seres vivos que tentam se adaptar à Terra lentamente em mutação. Cada jogador irá assumir o papel de uma das seis principais classes de animais - mamíferos, répteis, aves, anfíbios, aracnídeos ou insetos. Cada jogador começa o jogo mais ou menos num estado de equilíbrio natural, em relação um ao outro. Mas isso não vai durar: na verdade, é a sobrevivência do mais apto. Através da colocação de peões de ação, os jogadores vão se esforçar para tornar-se dominante em tantos hexágonos de terreno diferentes quanto possível, a fim de reivindicar efeitos de cartas poderosas. Os jogadores também vão querer propagar as suas espécies individuais, a fim de ganhar pontos de vitória para o seu animal particular. Os jogadores serão ajudados nestes esforços através de ações de especialização, migração e adaptação, entre outros. Tudo isso acaba conduzindo ao fim do jogo, a subida final da idade do gelo, onde o jogador que acumulou mais pontos de vitória terá os seus animais coroado como a espécie dominante. Mas alguém melhor torna-se dominante rapidamente, porque está a ficar muito frio.
