Em Tzolk'in: The Mayan Calendar - Tribes & Prophecies, cada jogador torna-se agora o líder de uma tribo em particular; cada tribo tem uma habilidade especial que só o jogador pode usar. Há treze tribos no total para garantir variedade do jogo. O jogo inteiro é também influenciado por três profecias que são reveladas antes do tempo e cumpridas quando for a hora certa. Essas profecias dão aos jogadores outras oportunidades para marcar pontos, mas também perde pontos se os jogadores não se preparam para os efeitos profecia, há 13 profecias do jogo completo. Esta expansão também têm novos componentes para permitir a versão do jogo com cinco jogadores e vários novos edifícios.
